Flat Acres Farm Haunted House and Hay Field Fire
10/25/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 01:22 a.m. on Monday, October, 25th Local members responded to a fire Flat Acre Farms, located at 11321 Dransfeldt Road in Douglas County. Upon arrival, members found a haunted house and large area of hay bales engulfed in flames. Members and tractor operators have contained and mostly extinguished the fire, but the hay will continue to smolder this morning.

On Thursday, October 21, 2021, Brother Steve Michalovic was elected Treasurer of the UPFFA of Ct., by the membership of the UPFFA. In accordance with the UPFFA Constitution & By-Laws, Treasurer Michalovic will assume the duties of Treasurer immediately. We wish Treasurer Michalovic success in his new role.
COVID MANDATE - Information Request

As we continue to navigate the COVID Vaccine Mandate, those with exemptions must forward the Local information to continue fighting this fight.  As you are aware, on September 24th, the Executive Board filed a formal complaint with the United States Department of Labor.

We are pleased to announce that the annual "BATTLE OF THE BRAVEST" Charity Hockey Game will return on March 20, 2022. Fire Fighters from across the area will once again take to the ice for CANCER RESEARCH. The past two years events have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2015, this event has raised $52,898 for established, promising, world class CANCER RESEARCH.

Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Equipment Operator Rick Lopez. FEO Lopez started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on June 21, 1984 and retired after 31 years on August 27, 2015.

It is a great honor that the North Haven Professional Firefighters Association , IAFF Local 2987, has been awarded the United Nations 2021 Special Award of World Bicycling Day for promoting safe cycling for school children. The North Haven Firefighters have been promoting bicycle safety for the last 25 years through their bike helmet safety program.

Brothers and Sisters, We continue to assist members affected by the destructive wildfires raging across California and Hurricane Ida - the first of the season - in the Gulf Coast of Louisiana through our disaster relief operations, including financial aid for members who are displaced from their homes, emergency home repairs and other needs as they rebuild and recover from these events.

The Fire Fighters Association of Missouri will be honoring KCFD Fire Captain Jerry Bayton and KCFD Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Rocha at this years events.  Candelight Service on Saturyday, October 9th at 9:00 PM and Memorial Service on Sunday, October 10th at 10:30 AM. FaceMasks are REQUIRED for these events.
Kittredge Circle Garage Fire
10/04/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
October 4, 2021, 2:00 a.m.- Multiple calls were received by South Metro Fire Rescue's Dispatch Center that black smoke was visible coming from a home's garage near S.Jordan Road and S. Broncos Pkwy. Homeowners had working smoke detectors and did the right thing by evacuating the home and keeping doors closed as they exited. This helped to contain the fire and smoke in the garage.

October 3, 2021 - At 6:28 p.m., Local members responded to reports of black smoke coming from an apartment near Market Street and Jordan in Parker. A neighbor spotted the smoke and heard a smoke alarm sounding from the home. Members from Tower 45 arrived on the scene and confirmed the incident was a working multi-family structure fire and pulled line for an offensive fire attack.
IAFF Pink Shirt Contest

Throughout October, affiliates across the United States and Canada promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month in their communities, and wearing pink T-shirts – while raising money for breast cancer research – has become a signature feature of these campaigns. To recognize these efforts, the IAFF conducts an annual Best Pink T-Shirt Design Contest open to all affiliates.

On Friday October 1, 2021 members of The Binghamton, N.Y. Professional Fire Fighters I.A.F.F. Local 729 spent the day giving "CANCER THE BOOT". Fire Fighters passed their boots all day long at a busy intersection collecting money for CANCER RESEARCH. 100% OF FUNDS COLLECTED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO ESTABLISHED, PROMISING, WORLD CLASS CANCER RESEARCH.

September 29, 2021 - Retirees from South Metro Fire Rescue and its legacy fire departments enjoyed a delicious lunch together at Station 35. Sharing stories and memories, it was easy to see that one of SMFR’s strengths comes from its rich history and the legacies of amazing firefighters.
